Ojas Boosting Almond Butter

As discussed in my previous blog post, ojas is the subtle essence said to give us vitality, strength & a strong immune system.

When ojas is low, it is said that we are more susceptible to the development of disease & generally have less energy, difficulty focusing, sensitivity to light & sound, heaviness in both body & mind and lower immunity. We are also more likely to suffer from mental disturbances such as depression or anxiety.

While one of the top ways to increase ojas is to eat a balanced diet, there are a few foods named by Ayurveda as being the highest ojas-builders – these foods include dates, almonds, ghee & Ayurvedic supplement Chayawanprash.

While I'm a huge fan of Chayawanprash, for its rich antioxidant content and immunity boosting power – not to mention it’s delicious flavor profile, I realize it’s a specialty item not loved by everyone, which is why I wanted to create a simple Ojas building butter for all.

Taking just a spoon of this butter a day, is a delicious and simple way to boost ojas.


1 cup dry roasted & unsalted almonds

¼ cup ghee

Optional but highly suggested add ons

½ tsp sea salt

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

¼ tsp cardamom

¼ tsp ginger powder

1-2 tbsp raw honey OR 2 fresh dates


Pour almonds into food processor or blender, add ghee and desired spices + honey or dates. Blend for 1-2 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.
